Captain Tony Fleishman. ACT I: Last time on Astroranger "Pleadia, do you have a cyborg that can make the Astrorangers forget who they are?" Tortan asked. Dave began to regret breaking up with Amy... "It isn't that I mind what we do but it's come at the stake of something precious to me. And I believe I've made a mistake in choosing this over what it is that I truly need for this life of mine." "And what's that, Dave?" asked Will. "Amy." Amy slowly walked down the street . . . "Maybe he's right. Perhaps having a relationship being protectors of this world isn't such a hot idea." All of a sudden, black Armaton soldiers somersaulted overhead out of sight in criss-cross direction. They appeared in the residential street and surrounded Amy. ... She rolled over and over until she hit the curb and tried to pull herself up off the ground with blood trickling from above her right temple. Suddenly, Amy's arms were grabbed by two Armatons and pulled her up off the gutter. She watched helplessly as more Armatons began to close in. Meanwhile at their house... "Tom says Amy's probably in trouble--he's also paged Ron as well so we should all be meeting up at about the same place," Dave reported. "We'll need the HydroCycles to get there in time." The bikes began to turn south on one of the roads. SaturnAstro found it very suspicious at the absence of Armatons after turning up so many on the scanner. "Let's take it slow guys," JupiterAstro warned. "She could be anywhere." "She is, but you're not going to find her." Ginara stood on the roof of a garage beside metal-clad mutant cyborg. Tied to a lamp post, Amy was threatened by Igan: "Tell me where the Saturn and Neptune solar spheres are." All that could be heard is Amy's deep breathing so Igan exhaled. "Fine." Igan used his small black device to project an image of the Astrorangers getting beat up by Cyborg Massat. Amy forgot she failed before and started pulling from her binds again without luck. "Please..." The holographic image on the wall showed Ginara upper-cut punching MarsAstro and kicking him down. Amy's eyes started overflowing with tears. "Untie me, you Nazitan..." Igan nodded. "Okay," he said given the Armatons the signal to let her down. "But beware, for the cyborg that attacks your friends has yet to to peak in its abilities." After bodily converting into a cannon, Cyborg Massat unleashed a powerful ray on the Astrorangers which had also hit Ginara as well: VenusAstro rolled over multiple times when she got up and looked at what was going on. The beam finally disappeared and Cyborg Massat converted back into robot mode. The Astrorangers and Ginara all dropped to the street and VenusAstro looked at Massat which was aiming its cannon at her. VenusAstro stood up again and shouted into the sky. "Galaxy Task Force Command: Pink HydroCycle!!" The motorcycle came driving solo around the corner and Cyborg Massat started shooting from its arm cannons. "I'll be back for you all later--this thing is much too powerful for me to battle lone," she said. "Ignition!" she ordered. The motorcycle switched to manual operator mode and she then sped off down the street . . . Episode 39: "Remember! You Love Me" Driving down the street towards a fast food restaurant in her police car was Officer Beverly Tenmei. She was still upset with the way 'everybody else' thought of the Astrorangers--especially now that she'd been one. Her radio had began making clicks so she'd answered it. "This is B-101-E, go ahead." After a bit of static, dispatch replied, "Unit B-101-E, you have an emergency telephone call from Amy Leven, shall I connect you?" "Patch me through," she said into her microphone. "Secured connection." "Acknowledged, stand by, unit B-101-E," replied dispatch. On her car radio, she heard Amy ask uncertainly, "Beverly?" Beverly noticed she sounded rattled. "Amy--what's the matter? Has something gone wrong?" Amy stood at a pay phone on the corner of a sidewalk on the street. "Big time. A cyborg went off the deep end and not only took out _all_ of the others but Ginara as well." "Holy moly! What did it do?" Beverly asked her. Amy looked around to make sure she was still alone. "I dunno," Beverly listened to Amy say, "but I had to get out of there. It's probably still looking for me. Which is probably a good thing because now it's not going to attack the others." "How can I help?" Amy heard Beverly say on the phone. Amy looked behind herself before answering. "We need to hurry up and get the guys to the base before Tortan or something comes down here to 'clean up' this accident of theirs," Amy said. "I gotta go; meet me at Hyperion and Rowena up by the Silver Lake Reservoir as soon as you can come." Beverly nodded. "All right, Amy. Watch your back." "I will, thanks," Amy replied at the pay phone. "See you soon." "Bye," Beverly replied--she hung up her microphone and began to head for the Harbor Freeway northbound. Beneath the surface of Pluto inside of the Nazitan outpost--Pleadia stood before Adol the Great, standing at his platform. "I have some good news and I also have some bad news as well." Adol nodded. "I knew your lack of failure in recent days have been too good to be true." "It isn't _all_ bad and we have not failed yet. The only problem is Tortan's plan sort of back fired," Pleadia explained. "Cyborg Massat successfully got all but two Astrorangers and Armatons have transported three of them back to the Uranus space station." "But?" Pleadia nodded. "But... I can't find Ginara and she doesn't seem to responding to any of our communication frequencies. Needless to say, I believe something has gone terribly wrong down there." "Tortan will certainly be unhappy with that but I don't care; ensure that the cyborg you have set forth tracks down the last three Astrorangers," Adol ordered. "In fact, use the three Astrorangers we have to corner them." Tortan walked into the primary chamber. "Excuse me, Sire... Pleadia! You messed up again!" "This was your plan, Tortan," Pleadia replied. Tortan pointed at him. "But it was your cyborg! How could you let this happen to Ginara!?" "An unforseen accident occurred, I am not in control of everything," Pleadia answered. "Soon you will not be in control of your bodily functions if you do not find Ginara and make sure she was not harmed by your crazy contraption," Tortan had threatened. Driving northbound on the Glendale freeway, Officer Beverly Tenmei drove her K-9 Unit police car with Amy riding in the passenger seat. Beverly glanced at Amy, in her torn clothes. "Christ, Amy--you look like hell." "I feel like it," Amy replied. "Armaton soldiers had kicked my ass real good before I found this massive cyborg doing a number to the others." "So what happened out there?" Beverly asked while turning left on Silver Lake Drive. Amy exhaled while trying to remember. "Well, I'm not too sure but after Igan asked me where we keep the Solar Spheres..." Beverly didn't remember the name. "Igan?" "Yeah, he's a Nazitan that I've yet to run into. Not sure where he came from or how long he has been in operation with the usuals," Amy answered. "Anyway, I came out there and I was angry enough to smoke that cyborg. All of a sudden, it turns into this cannon and shoots this real bright ray at all of us. I'm able to get out of the way in time but the others are all unconscious." Beverly nodded and made a right turn. "So then what happened?" "I drove out of there," Amy said. "I knew I was next and if all five of us couldn't waste the cyborg, who knows what it would have been able to do to just me alone." Amy shook her head worried about what she was going to do now. "Good work, I'm glad you're safe," Beverly said. "Are we close enough yet?" Amy nodded. "Yeah, we can stop here and check out the area on foot." The black and white Chevrolet Caprice drove to a stop as she parked it on the curb on the residential street. When the engine stopped, the doors opened and the ladies got out of the police car. After putting on her baton and turning down her personal radio, Beverly closed the door and looked around. "Lead the way." Amy walked around the corner but ended up ducking behind a fence--Beverly had soon followed suit. "Oh great! Cops," Amy whispered. "Now what are we gonna do?" Beverly nodded. "Yeah, this place is swimming with officers." "Uh oh," Amy moaned. "I don't see them!" Beverly looked at Amy. "Who?" "The guys; they're not here--and neither is Ginara," Amy replied. "I betcha that cyborg got 'em." "No kidding," Beverly said. "Hey, I saw an alley around the other way, maybe we can get a closer look from there--just to be sure." Amy nodded. "Good idea. Let's go." Beverly got up with Amy and moved away. Officer Tenmei drove the police car down the street when she began to make turn left towards the alley. "Bev, look out!" Amy shouted. After Beverly's black shoe shoved the brake pedal, the police car's body jerked to a halt as the hood dipped, just short of a pair of steel-covered legs. Amy was snapped back in her seat when she looked up. "What the hell?" Ginara turned around and looked at the two of them in the car. She did not do anything but stare with confusion at them. Behind the windshield, Amy and Beverly look at each other and then at her. At the space station in orbit of Uranus; Pleadia walked with Igan on deck in a chamber light by a single light from above. Standing beneath this light were Sheratan, Australis and Nashiran who watched them. They paced around the three of them. "Now that I have told you who you are, what your mission is and your responsibilities, I will now transport you back to Earth. Here you will do as you are told and kill the rogue Astroranger task force identified by the white, pink and yellow uniforms." "Any questions?" Igan asked. Australis nodded. "You have yet to explain why they look like us and why I can't remember anything before ending up here." "Yeah," Sheratan agreed. "No offense, Pleadia--but, how can we trust you?" Pleadia nodded. "I anticipated your lack of trust. Igan?" He walked to a panel mounted on the wall backlit by multiple colors per button and pressed some of them. Soon, the darkness that surrounded them became slightly illuminated by a giant screen on the wall that began to display pictures. Pleadia looked at the screen and then at the Astrorangers. "In a grand battle, you three attempted to protect our fortress on Earth but were unable to ward off the attempts made by the invaders called humans to remove you from Earth." "During the conflict, the fort's security systems were compromised and three uniforms were stolen by their forces," Igan explained. "Also, they have access to the weapons and machinery you control. After the struggle ended, you three lost your memories during a violent explosion" As the surveilance footage ran on, the red, black and green Astrorangers were launched clear of a fire ball erupting from the pavement. "I see," Nashiran said. "What can we do?" Pleadia stepped in front of edited combat footage. "You three must take back your fortress, resume control of Earth kill the rogue Astrorangers." "Why must we kill them?" Australis asked. "I'd like to ask them..." "They would rather die than to give in to us," Pleadia insistently interrupted. "These terrorists have been attempting to disrupt our forces long enough to make them less worthy of mercy," Pleadia explained. "They will stop at _nothing_, regardless of their own lives, to stand in our way." "I understand," Sheratan said, "but I'd still like to know more about my past. It is disturbing not being able to even recall my name." "Your memories will be restored as soon as we are able to discover a method of treatment," Pleadia consoled. "In the meantime--Earth is in danger as long as these three imposters are loose." "We understand," Australis said. "Let's get this over with." Nashiran nodded. "The impersonators of our team will be dealt with using the most deadly force." Pleadia and Igan exchanged looks while grinning. At the Terranian's house in Los Feliz--located in the Hollywood hills, the black and white police car drove inside of the garage with the door closing behind itself. Inside of the garage, Officer Beverly Tenmei lifted out of her car's trun, with Amy' help, a body in a huge burlap sack. After setting it on the asphalt, the person inside started kicking. "It seemed liked Ginara didn't know who we were or what to do. This is why I got the idea to have her be an ally." "No offense, Beverly, but, this's a lame idea," Amy said while dodging kicks. "I'm surprised we got her in this bag in the first place!" Beverly untied the knot. "We needed a fairly inconspicuous way of getting an odd looking person like Ginara back here." Amy held her feet down. "I still don't get how we're gonna turn her into our ally. Let alone get her to TALK to us after we did this." "Trust me," Beverly said; looking down at Ginara, she took the gag out of her mouth. "Uh oh, I forgot something." Ginara looked around alertly. "What?" Amy asked with annoyance. "How do I talk to her if she doesn't understand English?" Beverly asked. Amy rolled her eyes. "What were you gonna tell her? I'll try telepathy." "Uh, I don't know." Amy sighed and mumbled, "(Oh, for the love of...)" Beverly stood up and walked towards the screen door leading to the kitchen. "Uh, listen, Amy--you try and think of something, I need to go inside and phone the office and let 'em know I'll be a little while." Amy looked shocked. "What? Beverly, I don't think..." Beverly opened the door on her way inside when she stopped to look at her with a wink. "Hey, sis--you'll do fine." She ran inside and Amy looked lost as Ginara had knelt in a corner, attempting to protect herself. Her battle training remained with her. ``I do not intend to harm you. I know you don't know what's going on or who you are but if you trust me, I will explain everything.'' Ginara had already detected that she and not Beverly--who wore her uniform, was unarmed. So, despite her abduction, Ginara relaxed. "Whew," Amy gasped. "Now to try and explain everything to her. Thank goodness I don't have to use words..." ``You're speaking in words I do not understand,'' Ginara said. ``Explain yourself.'' ``Let me start from the beginning: I am Lotia...'' In the kitchen, Officer Beverly Tenmei walked through the dining room and into the den approaching the living room when in the doorway, she saw Ron. He stood there holding his wallet. "Is this 1515 Alta Vista Road?" "Yeah sure, Ron," Beverly replied with confusion. "Okay, so that _is_ my name," Ron said. "I kinda found out where I live by checking these cards in this thing I found in my pocket. Took me a while to go through all these keys here to get through the door. Who are you?" "Tenmei," she answered. "Beverly Tenmei, I'm a police officer. Um, you do live here and you have four other friends here. How are you speaking English?" Ron shrugged. "I don't know but somehow something taught me how and since everything written here is in English, I'm using that language instead." "Oh man, so this is what happened when that cyborg hit you all. You all lost your memories didn't you," she pondered out loud. "This is bad, we have got to get you to the SpaceBase." "The what?" Ron asked. Beverly shook her head. "Oh, never mind, I gotta get Amy." Beverly walked in towards Ron and grabbed his arm. "Come on, you gotta come with me." Ron stopped her for a minute. "Wait a second, you seem to know more than I did. Can you tell me how I lost my memory?" "We're going to find out," Beverly said. "Amy knows more than I do since you all were attacked at once." Beverly looked lost while starring at Ron's look of confusion. "Oh, I've _got_ to bring your memory back, you'd never believe me if I told you what we do!" "What 'we' do?" Ron asked. "Why do I get the feeling that I'm in the middle of something very dangerous?" "Because we are." ACT II: The K-9 unit police car drove northbound on Vermont Avenue--inside, Ginara layed on the back seat next to Amy who sat in the rear right. Ron sat up in front by Officer Beverly Tenmei driving. "How's she doin' back their, Amy?" "Uh, she's a little upset she's gotta do this but I gave it to her straight." Beverly looked into the rear-view mirror. "Does she believe you?" "She isn't gullible but somehow I managed to convince her of everything the same way I showed you, Beverly," Amy said. "What about Ron?" "Oh I'm fine, I guess. I just wish I knew what was going on. I mean, I wish I could remember who I am among other things," Ron complained. "But I guess there isn't anything I can do but hope you girls know what you're doing." "Hang in there, Ron," Amy said. "Bev, how much further?" "Another..." Beverly was starting to say. Suddenly, sparks started shooting out of the road and blowing off the sides of the police car. "Woah!! What the hell??" Ron asked. "Uh, whoever you are..." "Beverly!" she shouted while trying to drive evasively. "Yeah, Beverly--what was that?" "I don't know!" Beverly asked while changing lanes. "Try to hang on!" Amy's head was pressed back into her seat as the car's 5.7 liter engine accelerated. Traffic screeched to a halt while the police car rolled through the intersection. From the top of a shopping center, Cyborg Massat and the three Astrorangers shot at the police car with the Moleculatom Blasters and Massat's shoulder cannon. "We can't let them get away from us!" MarsAstro commanded. "We need the bikes, guys." "Yeah, I know," JupiterAstro replied. "HydroCycles!" Amy was looking out of the rear window and then looked ahead. "Uh oh, we got a big problem, Beverly." Beverly switched on the siren. "Now what?" "Something is wrong with the others, they're attacking us!" Amy answered. "What??" Beverly shouted looking behind herself. "Why?" Amy shrugged and then looked behind herself. "I don't know." The trio of Astrorangers drove down the street, side by side on their HydroCycles. Behind the police car, they began shooting from the Moleculatom Guns on their motorcycles. Beverly in hope of not gaining a flat tire, looked ahead in shock. "Is that it?!" Cyborg Massat stood in front of the car aiming its shoulder cannon at the police car. "Uh yeah, that's the cyborg all right" Amy shouted. "Beverly, find somewhere to stop the car. Ginara and I need to get out and deal with the guys. I gotta know why they're attacking." "What? No, I can't let y..." Beverly started to say. "Just do it! Get Ron to the SpaceBase and have Aaron Hanson deal with him, all right??" Beverly nodded. "Okay, Amy, you be careful." The sleek black and white car swung around onto Hillhurst Avenue before just stopping. The doors opened with Amy running out with Ginara before she kicked the door closed. After they ran out of sight and into a park, the Caprice's V8 engine took it north. On foot, MarsAstro ran with the other two as they entered a grassy field and, with Ginara, Amy looked behind herself and saw them running while Cyborg Massat stood in the park. The black Astroranger stopped in front of everybody and pointed at them. "Surrender," SaturnAstro threatened, "you are out numbered and without armor or weapons." "Nashiran, listen to me!" Amy shouted. "That cyborg you're fighting with made you forget who you are!" "You would know since you did that to us!" MarsAstro said. "Now you will pay for your crimes against The Nazitans." "What??" Amy asked. JupiterAstro stepped forth. "Yes--the true rulers of this planet. And now, decimation begins! Armatons!" Amy looked up and in the sky, a black, metal-skeletoned soldier jumped into the air before somersaulting out of the sky in opposite directions. "Oh no, not again!" Amy said. The Armatons landed next to Cyborg Massat and Ginara stepped in front of Amy, looking behind herself at her. ``Do not worry; I will protect you.'' Amy smiled and nodded when she brought up her right fist. "AstroCharge!" In a brilliant flash of light, VenusAstro and Ginara posed for battle. The Armatons ran up the side of the park while the Astrorangers watched with Cyborg Massat. Performing a walk over, Ginara turned around and began to fight the androids in black swiftly knocking them everywhere. One soldier flipped over after being roundhoused while another flipped backwards into the grass after being punched. Two Armatons used their bladed-rifles to attack Ginara while she hop-kicked up, splitting the link of swords and then tumbled passed them. Meanwhile--VenusAstro cartwheeled away from JupiterAstro's sidekick. The green Astroranger punched while she roundhoused his fist away. SaturnAstro came in with a high flying spin-kick. The pink Astroranger back flipped and blocked a side kick but sparks blew out of her uniform when he used his black BattleScythe to strike her. SaturnAstro turned around and struck past her abs. The double explosion of sparks from her chest flipped her into an airborne twirl before falling down. And, Ginara, who got through using an Armaton's arm to flip it over onto its back, turned around and saw what happened. ``Lotia!'' Ginara leaped into the air and, in the sky, her glowing yellow eyes preceded the jewel in her tiara beaming yellow rays of light into the ground. The white logo in the black Astroranger's uniform was burnt black by the sparks blasting away from the shot knocking him down. Looking behind himself, the green Astroranger clenched his fist. "No! ThunderBow!" JupiterAstro fired an arrow from his bow and airborne Ginara fell after sparks blasted from her armor. "Oh no!" VenusAstro said when she then gasped after seeing MarsAstro come after her with his FireSword. Onboard the opal sphere that maintained synchronous orbit with the moon, the automatic sliding doors on the top deck opened as Officer Beverly Tenmei pulled Ron by the arm into the main chamber. "Commander Leto?" "Beverly.. WHAT is _happening_ down there?" Commander Leto asked. "Hey where are we?" Messuta asked. "This is the SpaceBase, Messuta--we orbit the moon and," Beverly explained. "Messuta? Wait a second, I thought you said my name was Ron?" Beverly shook her head. "Well, you kinda have two names. Also..." "Hey," Messuta interrupted, "how'd we get up here anyway? One minute we were in these strange caves, then I see white and then end up here!" "Messuta--no offense, but, I don't have time to explain everything to you as much as you might need to know for your own piece of mind. Something has gone terribly wrong and I need to think," Beverly concluded. Messuta felt ashamed. "Sorry.." "Beverly, tell me everything you know about what happened. I can look for clues once I know where to start," Commander Leto requested. "Well, Amy was ambushed by The Armatons and the others tried to rescue her. Only a new cyborg was there instead and gave them hell," Beverly explained. "As is it turns out, this Nazitan we'd never seen before had tied Amy up trying to get her tell him where the solar spheres are." "She wouldn't know. Only Australis and Nashiran do," Leto said. "Go on." Beverly exhaled. "Well, while that's going on, the cyborg that came from nowhere becomes a cannon that seemingly wiped out everybody's memory. Including Ginara's by accident." "So what happened then?" Beverly shrugged. "I think Ginara and Messuta stumbled away because I think the cyborg must have come back with Armatons to get the last three. Lotia was able to escape both the ray and being attacked after the others were knocked unconscious by the blow." "I'll scan Ron's brain to find out why he can't remember anything; my theory is that something is interrupting his synapsis," Leto said. "Messuta, come." He shrugged and walked over to Leto; Beverly turned around, looking worried. At the Vermont Avenue and Hillhurst Avenue roadway junction, Armatons, the three male Astrorangers and Cyborg Massat continued their hyper-active attack on VenusAstro and her unlikely ally Ginara. Using her Sonic Boomerang, VenusAstro stopped the blade of MarsAstro's FireSword from striking against her. The red Astroranger turned around and kicked off her boomerang and swung into her abs. She leaped over the blade and tumbled over. Rising again, the pink Astroranger found MarsAstro coming down on her out of the sky. Once his sword landed on her boomerang, the collision sparked between their weapons. MarsAstro tried to push through but the pink Astroranger held steady. "Ugh--damn it, Sheratan! What did they tell you?? Why are you trying to kill us!?" "You should know the answer after what you've done to us," MarsAstro grunted. He pushed her back and as they both turned around to strike each other, sparks blasted out of each others shiny uniforms. Meanwhile, Ginara low spin-kicked an Armaton into falling over. She came up and back flipped away from a hurricane-kicking soldier. ``The fairness of using Armatons in this battle is highly dubious,'' Ginara had telepathically told VenusAstro. ``16 against two.'' ``Agreed although I never thought I'd see the day when you'd be fighting with them,'' Amy thought back. Ginara punched an Armaton away when suddenly Cyborg Massat stepped in and turned Ginara around by her shoulders. ``Hey, what the?'' Massat used both fists to knock her across the face. Ginara fell out of the air onto the grass and rolled over and over. VenusAstro, just low spin-kicking SaturnAstro into tumbling over looked at Ginara. ``What was that?'' ``That!'' she said pointing to the tall black robotic cyborg approaching. "Oh no," VenusAstro gasped. Massat fired alternately from each tube on its arms. The pink Astroranger leaped out of the way of two exploding towers of sparks and rolled up onto one knee looking at Ginara. ``Hold off the guys, I'll deal with the cyborg!'' ``Okay,'' Ginara replied while getting rid of more Armaton soldiers. Massat fired a blast of purple light from its shoulder-mounted cannon. A fire-filled explosion blew VenusAstro into the air. In the sky, she somersaulted straight over the black cloud of smoke. Cyborg Massat fired a yellow ray from one of its arm's guns; VenusAstro fell from the sky after sparks broke out of her skirted uniform. The pink Astroranger hit the ground while behind her--Ginara turned around, high spin-kicking away SaturnAstro's scythe but she caught the blade of MarsAstro's fire sword once down her chest and across her abs. After the sparks knocked her down, JupiterAstro turned to watch Massat hold both VenusAstro's hands as she struggled to push back, kneeling on the turf. "Team, now is our chance to complete our mission," JupiterAstro said. VenusAstro found her shoulders and arms being pulled up and held by the black and green Astrorangers. "No! Let go of me!!" They turned her around to make her face MarsAstro who aimed his Moleculatom Blaster at her chest. She managed to catch in her sight that it was set to maximum voltage which would kill her. "Wait!!!" she shouted. "Sheratan, stop!" He paused and SaturnAstro struggled to hold her back. "What are you waiting for?!" "Sheratan... Remember!" she pleaded. "Can't you remember--you love me?" "Foolish sentiment," JupiterAstro commented. He threw her into the ground and she rolled over and over. "Cyborg Massat, follow your orders." The huge black robot stepped forth and converted parts of its body until it became a the cannon it was before. Running as fast as she could, Ginara attempted to protect VenusAstro. In a spectacular stance, the trio fired three beams of electric blue streamed from their Moleculatom Blasters. Ginara's metal-armored body had sparks violently cascade across her body as she went down from the smoke. "Now!" SaturnAstro shouted. Massat in cannon mode unleashed its blinding white light on VenusAstro. Kneeling, the pink Astroranger shouted, "No!!" as she held up her hands. Onboard the Astroranger SpaceBase--Officer Beverly Tenmei paced the floor while Commander Leto continued paging through the data from the scan of Messuta's brain. Beverly grew impatient. "Leto, isn't there anything you can do for Ron and the others? I'd hate to rush you but Lotia doesn't have much time." "I don't know," Leto answered. "But for some reason, Messuta's cerebrum has bioelectrochemical static between the synapsis perhaps caused by ionization." "How'd that happen?" Beverly asked. "Did the cyborg's ray fired at the guys do this?" Leto nodded. "Possibly. A special atom Earth scientists call the Rydberg atom have electrons that ionize when they come into contact with a field of electromagnetism. It may be that his brain was flooded with these atoms followed by an electromagnetic fields that set off a chain reaction creating a kind of bioelectrochemical static. So now, his neurons (or brain cells) aren't able to communicate with each other." "Hence, why he can't remember anything." "Exactly. Neurons use very low voltage but use it to communicate to each other somewhat like Earth's morse code," Leto explained. "The static is acting as a barrier preventing memory from being retrieved." Beverly nodded. "So how do we reverse this?" "I'm not sure. It must be done either chemically or the way that cyborg did it," Leto explained. "Unfortunately, I don't know how the cyborg actually was able to do this. Especially how it managed to accurately block specifically these areas of the brain." "I have an idea," Messuta said. "I don't know much about all this, or much of anything but what if you just tried getting rid of the cyborg?" "The cyborg's life span probably has very little to do with the effects it had on its victims," Leto said. "But that would explain why the static is only staying in one particular area. As if they were being electronically controlled on the molecular level." "What?" Beverly asked. "(That would be astounding, not even Terranian technology has ventured into molecular structure manipulation, just re-construction.)" he pondered. "I think Messuta is on to something." "Well, based on what Lotia had to deal with, it'll take all I've got to do any damage to the cyborg in question," Beverly said while removing her police uniform's hat. "But, I'll give it my best shot." "Good luck, Beverly and be careful--we cannot risk losing all of you." She nodded at him. "I'll try. ChangeForm!" Beverly said bringing up the fist with her jade GeneGem ring. "AstroCharge!" she shouted pushing out her right fist as the ring flashed brilliantly. In the grass turf on the block at the roadway junction of Hillhurst Avenue and Vermont--JupiterAstro stepped forth as Cyborg Massat converted into robot mode again. "It is done," the green Astroranger stated; VenusAstro crawled to her hands and knees while shaking her head. ``Ow, my head hurts...'' she thought while trying to get up. ``Where am I? Who are all these people?? What's going on?! Wait a minute... Who am I!?'' The pink Astroranger was terribly frightened from her lack of knowledge. "Take her," MarsAstro said. SaturnAstro started walking towards her followed by JupiterAstro; sitting in the grass, VenusAstro began to move backwards using her hands and feet to push herself backwards away from them. "Keep away from me!" she said. Slowly, VenusAstro was backed into corner. Suddenly comet-like streaks of blue light struck the ground with multiple towers of sparks exploding from the shots fired from above. In the sky, EarthAstro was flying her yellow HydroCycle into landing in the street. SaturnAstro stood up and pointed to her. "Cyborg Massat, open fire!" It nodded and fired from its arm laser guns and shoulder-mounted bazooka. EarthAstro drove around the towers of sparks bursting one right after the other as she drove up onto the lawn of the ironically private estate. Massat fired a powerful shot from its shoulder mounted barrel. In the sky, the yellow HydroCycle carried EarthAstro over the black smoke left by the fire- filled explosion. Landing again, she turned her front wheel around to skid to a stop. The shiny yellow skirted uniformed Astroranger got off her motorcycle and faced everybody. They looked at the lone Astroranger stand there. "I know the odds are against me but I'm the only one who can do anything to try and spare my friends and destroy that cyborg as well! Celestial Weapons," EarthAstro commanded, holding out her fists in a T had shouted. "Lightning Daggers!" The two daggers materialized in her fists out of bolts of yellow lightning. "TwinSword Terra Power!" Arcs of light had transformed her daggers into two-swords and posed with them. "Massat," JupiterAstro ordered, "dispose of her!" The cyborg began marching ahead. The shiny yellow Astroranger stood ready with her swords in hand. The fight was not easy as she combined kicks and strikes just barely keeping Cyborg Massat away. EarthAstro was truly scared for her own life, Massat's strength was powerful and her strong blows weren't strong enough to keep it at bay. It kept on advancing but the thought that her little sister would never remember her again gave her the courage to attack more aggressively. EarthAstro gave it all she had which knocked it into the grass to roll over. Finally--the cyborg fell! "TwinSword Earth Sabers!" EarthAstro called out as lightning energized her swords again causing them to become laser-light blades. "Solar Light Strike!" she said jumping into the air. In the clear blue sky, EarthAstro's swords of laser light cut down and through the body of the robot. The tips of EarthAstro's two-swords stuck out of its back as blades returned to dagger mode. Standing there, Cyborg Massat had collapsed and shattered while bursting into flames. Soon, the cyborg exploded, consuming the remains of its body. JupiterAstro put his masked face in his hands and the others began to react similarly. SaturnAstro looked up around. "Man, I've a headache!" "Quick!!" EarthAstro said. "Tell me who you are!" "Beverly, you know who I am," the black Astroranger responded. EarthAstro exhaled happily. "Good, I'm glad you're back." Ginara looked around nervously with confusion. "What am I doing here?" She saw all six Astrorangers running after her. "I must retreat." Ginara had vanished and VenusAstro ran past where she stood. Turning around, the pink Astroranger looked at the others and sighed. "Damn." In the backyard of the Terranian's house in the Hollywood Hills, Dave had been slowly practising his form. Amy walked out of the backdoor with a bottle of water. When Dave finished, he saw Amy walking towards him. "Oh, hey, you didn't have to get me this." "Of course not," Amy said. "Just something I thought you needed." Dave nodded and smiled. "Thanks for thinking of it." "It's just hard to take you for granted after everything that's happened." Dave sighed and nodded again--he almost knew what it is that she was going to say next. "Dave... I know that if it weren't for my hope that you would remember me, I wouldn't have been defeated. I admit I hoped because I believed we'd shared a special bond that no technology could override," Amy said. "But this proves it is already too late to try and pretend as if it never existed." "If we get back together, it'll just get worse, Amy." Amy arched an eyebrow. "Dave, you make it sound like a disease." "Amy, trust me, I miss being with you too but I got scared. I knew losing you with you as my mate would destroy me," Dave explained. "Being the only one to have ever come to me, on her own makes you too special." "But, Dave--wouldn't it be better for both of us if we died by each others side instead of just one of us?" "That wouldn't do us any good. Besides, I couldn't take myself seriously if I backed out of this. Amy, I've got to prove to myself that I wont cave into every need I have." Amy looked down. "If not for yourself then, for me?" Dave didn't reply and she sighed. "We've only been together for a brief time and I already miss you. I feel like everything under the sky is here to get in our way when all we want is to be happy." "I know," Dave replied. "Heh, I heard a saying on Earth while working one night. Life's a bitch. And I don't mean a female dog either." Amy nodded and grinned. "Yeah. It's frustrating to see others together too. I always thinking: Damn it, when will it be our turn?" Dave nodded. "I've never found anyone as special as you; this is why you were my first as well." Dave looked surprised as his mouth slowly parted. Amy shook her head and smiled. "Don't be surprised. What we were able to do was from literally years of study, interest and fantasizing. My philosophy is that if you try hard enough to get what you need, you will get it." Dave smiled and then looked disappointed. "You're an amazing woman, Amy." She was waiting for the ominous 'but'... "You gotta realize, that--if one of us is lost in the line of duty, that the other must carry on--to make sure that, in the end, this solar system is safe," Dave said. "Once again, I am very sorry." Amy sighed. "I see." Even though she'd seen this coming and knew it would be a mistake to try again, Amy had to know if she had a chance. "I'll be inside." "Okay," he replied. Dave watched her walk back to the house and took a deep breath. ``Something's got to give here,'' he thought to himself. TO BE CONTINUED Next week on Galaxy Task Force Astroranger. . .
