[971126] Today on RoboMan . . . His leg in a cast, David goes stir crazy with child's play in a neighbor's yard while trying to do work from home. As Amanda daydreams about David, ProcBots unleash Slayer Droid Aracnor to mass-consume power. Will the the Earth Defenders short one Robon have what it takes to exterminate the spider? Find out on today's Earth Defender RoboMan! EARTH DEFENDER ROBOMAN ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Starring: Aaron Roland Lifeson .............................. Gold Robon Brad A. "View from the Bedroom Window" Written By Dairenn Lombard ACT I: The usual deafening silence of the blazing hot Mojave Desert in southeast California was conspicuously disturbed by a mild noise originating from the ProcBot's battleship lodged in the sandy hills. Inside of one of the many bays in the aft section, black metal tubes fired red beams of light at the skeleton of a silver, mechanical spider. On the catwalk, Abominor walked up to Ivicon who was monitoring the operation. "What is with this racket?!" "I am constructing Virex's latest design for a Slayer Droid," Ivicon answered while watching different instruments launch traction rays to attach and connect parts. "Deploridon's plan is to have us along with the other ComBots attack and when they show up, unleash this thing on them." Abominor then looked out to the black-widow shaped robot. "And what is it going to do to them?" "Trap them and drain them of their energy," the dark green robot replied. "A droid like this will completely revolutionize the technology." The dark red robot then looked at Ivicon and asked, "Yeah, but--what is it?" "Virex got the idea from what humans call arachnids, eight legged creatures of varying type," Ivicon answered. "This is based off the more deadly with the ability to cast cobweb nets woven within its abdominal cavity and fanged jaws." "Sounds gruesome but what about strength? Those legs do not look that strong for battle," Abominor asked from a robotic standpoint. Physiologically, robots were supposed to have bulky lower-legs and other typical features. Ivicon nodded. "This is a breakthrough in engineering. Somehow, spiders have the ability to leap huge distance off of their seemingly fragile legs. Now the plan is that once the Robon have been disposed of, Slayer Droid Aracnor will feast itself on where ever there is raw energy." "Making it more versatile so we wont have to target such as oil refineries or power plants," Abominor concluded. "Sounds good. I will report to Tyrannotron and await his command to begin." In the residential area southwest of the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance was the two story, brick-made duplex where David Sykes lived. In the apartment on the left, the second story bedroom light was still on even though it was the sun was up that Thursday afternoon. Inside of the living room, David had a sour expression on his face while he sat in his easy chair with his foot in a cast propped up on the coffee table. He channel surfed on the television he almost never watched until he finally turned it off. "Man, no wonder I never use this thing." Daytime television was worse than what he glanced at during the evening hours. He sighed and looked upstairs thinking about all the hours going by that he could be working instead sitting around doing nothing. He pondered getting up to go find a magazine or even a book but the thought of straining himself on that cane again was exhausting in and of itself. David's telephone rang and he put his hand on his forehead. "Oh great," he said. The cordless telephone was upstairs so he had to get up and get the phone beside the long sofa. While it continuously rang, he looked around for his cane while mumbling, "I should invest in voice mail." The phone continued ringing as he found his cane and took his foot off the coffee table. Using the armrests, David pulled himself up onto his feet and used his cane to stay balanced. The telephone still rang as he limped over to it. He dropped down onto the sofa and picked up the phone while heavily breathing. "Sykes." Outside of Lenny's, Amanda stood in front of a pay phone in her blue trousers and red lifeguard's jacket. "Hello, David," she said in her English accent. David looked around himself for where he even keeps his magazines. "Oh, hi, Amanda; what's going on?" Amanda closed her other ear from traffic to hear David better. "I just finished lunch and wanted to hear how you are." David gave up looking and answered, "Well, I could be better. I can't go upstairs and my bedroom light is still on so I'm gonna end up paying for that. (Thank goodness I use florescent bulbs.) I'm just bored that's all." Amanda frowned. "Sorry to hear that. I guess you're still not gonna tell me how you messed up your knee." "NO," David replied. "(It's embarrassing, please stop asking.)" Amanda slightly chuckled. "Okay, David--no need to be a prickly pear." "How are the others?" David asked. "Looking forward to May," Amanda answered, "I think it's somebody's friends birthday or something." David looked up while pondering. "Oh yeah, today's April 30th. Yeah, my calender's upstairs too because I basically do everything there." A double beep started and Amanda said, "Well, I have to go David--time to get back to work. I'll come by and see you after I get off, okay?" David nodded and smiled a little. "Sounds great, thanks; I appreciate it." "Don't mention it," Amanda replied over his phone. "Talk to you later." "Bye," David replied before hanging up. ACT II: Aboard the ProcBot battleship crashed in the sandy hills of the Mojave Desert, two doors opened in the back of the main bridge. Stepping out was the light red ProcBot Deploridon who walked down the pathway and turned to greet Tyrannotron. As the blue ProcBot stood up to greet him, he said, "Report." "Tyrannotron--Slayer Droid Aracnor has been deployed via subterranean channel B and has almost arrived at its destination," Deploridon replied. "The ComBots are following with Toncur who is already there awaiting Aracnor's arrival." Tyrannotron nodded. "Any sign of the Robon?" "Negative," the red ProcBot answered. "(So far, so good.) Dismissed." Deploridon nodded to Tyrannotron and assumed a station at the aft console. Papers, envelopes and shopping catalogues were strewn from the open doors of a closet, along the floor, to the window seat where David sat holding a book. At closer examination, it wasn't a novel but a How To book on a programming language. Despite not being able to do the examples on his system, he could at least read about it to get a better understanding of the language. Suddenly, the sound lots of little feet running down the pavement from outside of his apartment in the duplex began to get louder as they crashed against his wall. Startled, David looked up. "What the?" He didn't see anything out side of his window so he shrugged and went back to reading. The noise came and left in ignorable intervals but David started getting really annoyed when there were screams. He turned his head, thinking that some children had injured themselves while playing. Looking out of the blinds, he saw directly into the backyard and driveway which led to a garage of a house adjacent to his building. David noticed kids less than nine years old playing around but nobody appeared hurt--just lots of smiles and giggles. Taking his finger away from the blinds, he shook his head and went back to reading. David tried to ignore the running around and loud pangs from objects being smacked accompanied by loud yelling, screaming and shouting matches. I've got to move away from here, David thought to himself. Now re-reading the same sentence for the third time, more noise prompted him to give up and look out of his window. In school clothes, the kids romped about with tree-stick fragments hitting metal objects such as trash cans while playing some kind of game. Worse yet, it looked like more were on the way. "Oh man," David moaned to himself while peering through the window. "Don't these kids have homework, or something?" A boy walked in with a basketball and approached the hoop mounted above the garage. The others gathered around him and they started trying to play the game without much apparent luck. David shook his head and took his finger away from the blinds; inside, he put his book down and grabbed his cane. Straining to his feat again, he grabbed his book and unevenly limped away from the window over to the dining table. David pulled a chair away and sat down. While finding his place, David cringed when all of a sudden a missed shot had the basketball bounce off the wall of his apartment. He turned his head around and looked out of the window. There, he saw a kid jump over the fence over onto property he paid money to rent. "Gosh darn brats," he said to himself. "If I needed a way to get my mind off of Amanda, this was sure the way." Not much latter--the basketball bounced off the window just short of busting it. Even though there was no damage, the noise aggravated David enough to slam his book down. "I'm gonna have to do something about this." Despite the heat from the sunlight unobstructed by the lack of clouds, the coastal breeze kept the lifeguards cool on Hermosa Beach that afternoon. Except for Brad, different people were at the towers that David, Aaron and Amanda were stationed. Due to the lack of people on the beach, the yellow rescue pick-up trucks were able to make faster runs between the towers spaced apart. Inside of one truck, Amanda drove while Aaron looked out of the cab window to the sea as he listened to her ramble about something. Eventually, Amanda asked him, "I mean, what do you know about him anyway?" "Who?" Aaron obliviously asked. Confused, Amanda glanced at him and repeated, "David--who else?" "Oh! Well," Aaron stopped to think, "that's a really big question there." She shrugged while making a U-Turn. Aaron looked up and then back at Amanda. "What do you want to know?" "Well, what has he told you?" Amanda asked back. Aaron shrugged while shaking his head. "Not much. I know he does computers." Amanda grinned and chuckled, "Heh--eyeah, I knew that much." "Um. Other than that, Brad tells me that he's lonely," Aaron said. "David's one of the first guys I ever met when I took this job last year. This is a new thing; normally, he's too preoccupied to be concerned with stuff like that." "I see," Amanda replied, "but what about..." Suddenly over the radio, Brad was heard broadcasting, "...Seed calling unit 4891, come in, over." Amanda rolled her eyes while Aaron picked up the mic on the dash radio. "4891 acknowledged, Lifeson here, go ahead," Aaron replied releasing the talk button. Leaning against the railing of his Tower while looking out to sea, Brad used the radiophone receiver to communicate back. "Aaron, I just got word over my radio at my tower that ComBots are cuttin' up in Lynwood, over." "I copy that, Brad," Aaron replied over Brad's radio phone. "Unit 4891 out." Brad hung up his phone and put it back in the cabin on his tower to get his uniform. While Aaron hung up the microphone on the truck's dashboard mounted radio, it suddenly occurred to Amanda. "Hey, just a minute, Aaron, I don't think David can become Cerebros if he's injured in any serious way." "Hey, yeah, you're right," Aaron replied. "We'll have to go in without him." "I'll radio headquarters that we'll need a replacement right away," Amanda said to him. Aaron nodded. At an intersection, pedestrians had crossed the street and walked down the sidewalk normally until, turning the corner, was a big brown tank. As soon as everyone noticed, murmuring and shrieks from the women immediately followed the the moment they began to run away. Toncur scared parked cars on its way down 120th street. Suddenly the loud brakes stopped it as the four ComBots Abominor, ThunderBelt, Stealthon and Ivicon leaped out of the hatch and onto the pavement where their red leader, Abominor stood forth. "Let's tear this place apart!" Ivicon nodded while holding his crossbow and opened fire. An arrow shot through a traffic signal while a lamp post just spewed sparks from its glass covering. Ivicon changed aim and fired again. A fire hydrant was busted and began to act as a geyser, sending up gallons of water into the air like a fountain. People scattered in random directions, disrupting traffic while sparks continued to burst everywhere. Abominor took the disc from his back and tossed it; the ringed metal frisbee spun ahead and shattered a neon sign causing it to explode with sparks raining down from its destruction. "If those doesn't get their attention nothing will," ThunderBelt said. Stealthon nodded to the white robot. "You're right, look." In the sky, Rocore flew over the city at a thunderous speed while inside of the the dark, red-hued cockpit--the golden, silver and pink Robon warriors were in three of the five seats within the jet craft. Amanda pushed a button marked autopilot and another marked landing. "We're in position." "Opening bay doors," Brad announced. "Ready everybody?" Aaron nodded. "Let's get to work." His golden finger pushed a button on the terminal marked eject which turned from yellow to red. In the sky, overhead, the three of them dropped out of sight; on the street, they landed on their hand and knee before standing up and turning around. Striking their individual positions, they announced, "RoboMan!" The black ComBot looked to the others and asked. "Wonder where the blue Robon is?" Ivicon looked at Stealthon and replied, "Who cares? We need to get them into position." "Attack," Abominor ordered. The dark green, black and white ComBots all charged ahead followed by the dark red one, Abominor. Across the street, the Robon put up their fists and ran after them. After Abominor punched straight ahead, Amanda turned around and kicked his fist away. In the same roundhouse, the pink Robon's foot swung against the red ComBot's face while she turned around. Amanda's shins knocked against Abominor's arms on both side in his attempt to block her nonstop kicks. Brad jumped backwards onto his hands and onto his feet again to dodge Stealthon high spin-kick. The silver Robon dropped down to low-spin kick the black ComBot but instead of tripping, Stealthon jumped up and tornado kicked Brad down. Aaron's forearm came up to block ThunderBelt's punch before using his other to knock the white ComBot's fist sky high. ThunderBelt ducked as the gold Robon swung his fist at him and swung back. Aaron caught the white ComBot's fist, upper-cut him in abs before punching ThunderBelt across the face. Elsewhere--Ivicon watched the Robon fight it out with his comrades before turning to the shadowed figure of something massive in the alley he stood in. "Slayer Droid Aracnor: activate," the dark green robot commanded. Suddenly, eight circular eyes had glowed yellow. A harsh mechanical sound indicated it's movements before crawling out of the shadows. Aracnor was a thirty foot tall robot spider with a metallic silver body shell of ultra-strong steel armor. Brad caught a high punch from Stealthon and used the black ComBot's fist as away to flip him over onto his back. The silver Robon turned around to check the others when his yellow optics caught the sight of a giant, mechanical spider heading their way. "Woah!" Aaron ducked Abominor's reverse-punch before ramming his elbow into the red ComBot's face. "What?" The gold Robon looked over and saw the slayer droid as it had begun to tear down the wires that hung over tracks for the Metro Blue Line. Its cephalothorax began to drink the hundreds of volts worth of electricity. "So now we're exterminators," Aaron said. "Team--draw your Robon Weapons!" The silver Robon reached behind his back and, in his hand was a red pipe-shaped device as two blades shot out of both ends. Brad twirled the SilverStaff before aiming it ahead of himself. The pink Robon swung her arms through the air eventually securing her silver, robot hands on a black holster mounted to her metallic hip. Drawing the black handle, Amanda pulled long pink cord of the PinkWhip. "Let's go!" Abominor commanded. With Toncur the tank parked near the Metro rail station, Ivicon, Stealthon, ThunderBelt and Abominor leaped inside and closed the hatch. Aaron looked at them leave wondering what they left so fast for. His attention was diverted when sparks popped out of electrical cables once suspended overhead on wooden polls. Slayer Droid Aracnor had taken those black cables into its tiny mouth and sucked on the electricity. "What's it doing?" Amanda asked. "I don't know, but I don't want to wait around to find out," Aaron answered, "Charge!" Aaron leaped ahead, followed by Brad and Amanda. As the silver Robon warrior ran, he put his feet together. In the sky, Brad somersaulted over with his SilverStaff swinging down in the process. Aracnor turned around and used its two rear legs to knock Brad's weapon off target. Then it's big front legs pushed him down. Amanda socked the Slayer Droid across the face making sparks blast from its head. Since nothing really happened after that, Aracnor knocked her arms high and slapped her across the chest. Sparks exploded from the pink armor on Amanda's chest before she rolled away. Aaron kicked away its two front legs, shoved his foot in its face causing Slayer Droid Aracnor to crawl backwards. It turned around and spun threads within the cavity in its backside that had launched themselves. A stick but chain linked net flew through the sky and eventually landed on the gold Robon. Aaron rolled onto his back and found himself flatly nailed to the pavement. "Awgh!! Help me!" he cried. Slayer Droid Aracnor's metal legs ticked while it crawled towards him. He fussed and punched but could not escape the web. "Uh oh!" Aaron said as he saw it coming towards him. Sparks exploded on Aracnor's legs which sent the slayer droid rolling over. It eventually rolled back on its legs but tripped backwards continually. Aaron layed underneath the strands of metal as Amanda came and said, "Brad, a little help." The silver Robon stepped beside her and used his the SilverStaff to cut through the web. Sparks burst when the blade of his weapon tore through the metal net allowing Aaron to pull open the hole. Aaron was able to stand up out of the web and looked at the others. "Thanks, guys." "Spidey's not gone yet," Brad said. The ticking of Aracnor crawling forth was much faster as it charged them more aggressively. The three of them stood by when Aaron said to them, "Brace yourselves." While crawling, it suddenly leaped into the air. Slayer Droid Aracnor had all eight legs out as it flew between the Robon warriors. It's legs scraping them all at once, sparks had broken out of their armored bodies knocking them down. ACT III: In Lynwood near the Metro Blue Line tracks, smoke came from electric poles and traffic signals along as well as lamp posts. Meanwhile, the ticking of the eight-legged Slayer Droid Aracnor was quick as it charged towards them. It had leaped into the sky and, in midair, flew between the golden, silver and pink Robon warriors. While it's legs were out, they sparked off the trio's chests and knocked them all onto the street to roll against the sidewalk. "We can't keep letting this thing do this!" Amanda told Aaron. The gold Robon looked at her and nodded. "I know, but we need a way to get around all those darn legs!" Brad pointed ahead and shouted, "Look out!" Slayer Droid Aracnor had fired a beam of light from each one of its eyes. Eight bolts of lights struck the ground causing the same number of sparks to erupt all around them. Aaron had leaped through the white cloud of smoke and tumbled over to jump into the air. In the sky--he came down with his arms out to attack Aracnor below. On the street, the golden Robon smashed its head with his fist and turned around to kick it it across the head. There was no effect as Aracnor's pedipals clasped around his hips and leaned forth, attempting to thrust its fangs into Aaron. With every last ounce of his strength, the gold Robon attempt to keep the fangs off of his abdomen. "You're not gonna get me!" he strained to say. "Robon Weapon I!" Amanda cracked her pink whip causing it to tighten around one of Aracnor's legs. The slayer droid pulled back and Amanda tugged on her whip. "You like juice, eh? Well, drink this," she said with her left fist up. The pink Robon's silver fist had retracted within her tube-shaped arm before becoming replaced by a rod that she touched to her whip. A blue arc of lightning bolted along her metal whip which caused sparks to snap out of many areas of Aracnor's body making it drop Aaron. The gold Robon rolled away and looked up at the pink Robon. "Good work, Amanda," gasped Aaron. Aracnor's eyes flickered as it touched its fangs to her whip. A white bo of electricity cracked along Amanda's weapon. Amanda screamed when sparked blasted out of several locations of her pink armor from being electrocuted causing her to fall. "Amanda!" Aaron and Brad shouted out. Holding onto her whip, the pink Robon warrior pulled herself up. "I'm okay." "Yeah, but now that thing isn't!" Aaron vengefully said upon charging ahead. Looking ahead, Brad feared he might've lost his sense of judgement. The gold Robon turned around and kicked Aracnor but it managed to duck this time. Aaron side kicked its head back causing it to crawl backwards. Aracnor stood on its six rear legs and attacked with its two front arms. Aaron held them high but they were surprisingly stronger than he was, even in Robon form. "Brad, help!" The silver Robon was already running before jumping into the air; in the sky, his entire body stretched out into a flying side kick. Brad's silver-armored leg punched Aracnor's arms out of sight. The slayer droid turned around and used its two rear legs to smash in the chests of the golden and silver Robon warriors. The sparks blew them down. The ticking sound of Aracnor's legs crawling along became louder on approach but suddenly, it stopped and looked into the sky. Overhead, Amanda was coming in for an attack. The jaws of Aracnor's abdominal cavity opened up as threads of metal spewed forth. In midair Amanda tried to use her hands to block the web from spawning in her face; the threads tied her arms to her chest instead. On the ground, Amanda dropped onto the sidewalk like dead weight from being tied up by the web that was still attached to Aracnor that crawled towards her. "Does it ever stop!?" Amanda asked. "Oh no," she gasped as it the slayer droid used its legs to pin her shoulders to the ground. "Guys, help!" Amanda shouted as Aracnor's pedipals locked down over the pink metallic bosoms built into her armor and had pushed its fangs towards her. "Ach--NO!" When Slayer Droid Aracnor's fangs burrowed into her pink armor, the sound of metal being twisted screeched out as electric static danced out of her abdomen. It's eyes had begun to glow brightly as Amanda continued to moan out loud. "No! Not my energy!" Amanda cried out. "No!!" She tried to getting free but Aracnor locked her in place with its fangs lodged within her abs. The gold and silver Robon stood side by side looking at the brilliant light glaring at them. Uncertain of what to do, they reached out trying to figure a way to help Amanda. Aracnor's eyes flashed repeatedly and Amanda's head bobbed up and down with her hands on its fangs trying to pull them out. "Stop it," she moaned. Using his arm to shield his optics, Brad looked away. "Aaron, hat's it doing to Amanda?!" "I don't know but we've gotta do something, Brad," he told the silver Robon, "it's killing her!" The golden Robon started running ahead but Brad had reached out and grabbed him back. "No, man! We don't know how to how fight it, Aaron," Brad told him, "We have to retreat!" Slayer Droid Aracnor's pedipals released the pink Robon while sucking the web that trapped her inside of itself again. When Amanda lifelessly hit the sidewalk, the incision holes sparkled with electricity. "Amanda," Brad mumbled. "Aaron, get us out of here!" Aaron stepped forth and looked into the sky shouting, "I, golden Robon summon Rocore!" The clouds in the blue sky had parted as Rocore, the large black and red striped aircraft jet-propelled itself downward. Brad lifted up the pink Robon into his arms and said, "Hang tight, Amanda; we're not threw yet." Meanwhile, Aaron held back Aracnor's legs with his fists while looking behind himself at the silver Robon who tried to check Amanda's vital signs. "Go!" Aaron shouted. "I'll catch up." The gold robon thew off Aracnor's two front legs and ran away as well. In the sky, Rocore had taken off like a rocket into the clouds again. Meanwhile, Aracnor crawled through the streets. It looked over and found a car parked on the curb. Tore off the hood with its jaws and carved into the battery with its fangs. Aboard Rocore, Aaron had knelt beside the pink Robon, lying on the floor with her head slowly rolling from one side to the other. When the gold Robon stood up, he walked behind Brad, piloting the airship. The silver Robon looked up behind himself and then back out of the window. "Let me put this on autopilot," Brad said. "How is Amanda?" Aaron shook his head and sighed. "She seems to have lost a great amount of energy and endured an even greater amount of injury. I'm not sure how much longer Amanda will last in this state." "I wish I knew more about Chromion technology," Brad said, "I bet David would know some things from tapping into Cerebros' memory banks. It seemed to me he always knew the most." Aaron nodded but dropped onto a seat, looking extremely exhausted. Brad moved forth sharply. "Aaron!" "No, that's okay; I'll be all right," the golden Robon replied. Brad looked off to the side and then at Aaron again. "Something must have happened to you out there when that spider robot trapped you in its net." Fading, Aaron's optics began to loose their illumination and Brad shook him by his shoulders. "Hey! Don't go!" While trying to keep the golden Robon awake, he looked downward with concern. Man, I wish David were here, he thought to himself. In the middle of the desert, the ProcBot's battleship remained stuck in the the side of a hill of sand. Onboard, Abominor had walked out of the booth from between the double doors followed by ThunderBelt, Stealthon and Ivicon and they came to face Tyrannotron who stood up anxiously. "Back so soon? Virex's slayer droid must have disposed of the Robon warriors faster than I had thought." "You mean Virex didn't tell you how it went?" Ivicon asked. "We left as soon as Aracnor attacked the Robon." "You what??" Tyrannotron asked. "We have no clue about how well Aracnor did and was hoping Virex would tell us when we returned," ThunderBelt told him. Abominor shook his head constantly. "You're right! You don't have a clue!" Tyrannotron replied. "You four fools were supposed to stay there and finish off the Robon warriors while Aracnor has accumulated energy!" Take a breath, Stealthon thought while his arms were up. "What are your orders, Tyrannotron." "Get back there and make sure that Aracnor is still all in one piece and that the Robon have been properly done away with," Tyrannotron said, "then you stay there and make sure Aracnor gains enough energy to return to us safely and fuel our power reserves. Understood?" Abominor nodded affirmatively. "Yes, Tyrannotron!" "Now get out of here!" Tyrannotron said while pointing to the door. "And don't come back until you get the job done!" "You heard him," Abominor said, "move!" Ivicon looked at Abominor, knowing he gave the order to leave the site in the first place, and is trying to act as if he we wasn't so stupid. As they moved away, Ivicon never contradicted Abominor because he was the leader of the ComBot team of ProcBots. "I know they're just kids," David replied; he sat on the couch in front of his muted television holding the remote and, in the other hand his telephone. Meanwhile, the children outside sung off key as David tried to listen to one of their mother's on the line. "Yeah, well that's because I've never been home all day, Mrs. Tidey; but these kids are getting ridiculous and if they break my windows, then my landlord is gonna break your bankbook." On David's television set, the screen displayed live coverage from a helicopter over a Metro Blue Line station as people scattered from Slayer Droid Aracnor pulling down electrical cables. Sparks rained down as the giant silver robot spider used its pedipals to take the power lines into its mouth. He mouthed the words what the before saying, "No that's not a threat! It's a warning that you need to deal with your children running around, making a mess! Now I've got to go--but, I suggest you deal with them before my other neighbor gets to you. And she don't mess around!!" He slammed the receiver down onto the phone and used the remote control to cancel the mute on his television. "...massive power outages throughout the Lynwood community which has shut down everything from telephones to traffic signals shortly after three of the RoboMan team had retreated..." "Retreated??" David said; suddenly his doorbell rang. "Who is it?" "Open up the door, David," Brad said, "It's Brad and we need your help." David muted the television again. "It's open!" The doorknob opened as Aaron walked in with Brad who held Amanda in his arms. "Amanda; Brad, what's wrong with her?" David asked. "Aaron, what's going on? They said you retreated from this big metal spider." "That's because we did," Aaron answered, "David, where's your first aid kit?" "Upstairs. Aaron, what is that thing? Where did it come from?" David asked. Aaron looked at David's television and said, "It started out with the ComBots just shooting at everything but when we got there, all of a sudden that robotic spider attacked us." "And what's wrong with Amanda?" Aaron sighed. "I'm not sure but at least she's recovering now that she's back in human form. Brad's checking it out now." David looked back at the television. "I don't understand, how could Amanda be so badly injured by that thing?" "It literally dug into her and drained the life right out of her. She was down for the count after that," Aaron replied. "I'd never seen anything like that. I didn't even know that was possible!" "Me neither," David replied. "Our armor is better than titanium; supposedly capable of tolerating a laser beam on the same spot for over an hour! Whatever it is, it's extremely strong." Aaron nodded. "Dangerously strong but it's always been my understanding that everything has a weak spot somewhere." David nodded too and looked up at him. "Yeah, but the trick is finding it." "I think I may know what it is," Amanda said. They both looked behind themselves at her, standing at the doorway to the staircase. ACT IV: In the war-torn city of Lynwood, the pink Robon walked down the street between the shredded parked automobiles and snapped power polls. Objects around her were aflame while smoke came off the pavement from sparks that occasionally jumped out of pulled down live wires. Slayer Droid Aracnor had turned the place into a ghost town, Amanda thought to herself. I hope I'm up to this. Since her armor was stored as an electronic pattern within her RoboCrystal, all of her injuries were restored. She was still will because the power drainage had affected her human state as well. At the intersection, the ComBots were walking down another street when Abominor's super-scope enabled him to see through a building and detect Amanda's presence. He reached out to the others, holding up his black hand to halt them. "Shhh," he whispered, "one of the Robon are back!" "What is she doing?" Stealthon said while peering around the side of the building. "She's all alone." ThunderBelt looked at the black ComBot and said, "Who cares, that just makes it easier." Ivicon nodded as he pushed a button on a gray, rectangular box. The pink Robon looked from side to side; from her point of view, her optics scanned the region for the shape of the slayer droid that attacked her before. Amanda scanned back the other way when she suddenly stopped and jumped back. "There it is!" she shouted; the giant metallic spider had jumped straight out of the shadows of the alley it had originated from. Amanda stood back with her arms up, looking up at the silver robot spider descending upon her. "There's a hole in the pavement where it came from!" The pink Robon crashed onto her back when Aracnor pounced onto her; her arms held its forelegs off her waist. Aracnor it opened its jaws, using its pedipals to pull her hips to its fangs but all of a sudden, something went 'chug' when Amanda's knee had jammed into its abdomen. Putting her silver hands together as one fist, the pink Robon whacked across Aracnor's face knocking it off of herself. When Aracnor rolled onto its feet again, he saw Amanda stand up. "I'm wise to you now." The pink Robon's image appeared in Slayer Droid Aracnor's eight eyes. Amanda jumped into the air, somersaulted overhead and landed on the robot spider's back before jumping off again. Aracnor's joints buckled causing it to stumble around again. Amanda landed and turned around before spinning on the ground for a low roundhouse kick that knocked it off its feet and onto its back where it was helpless. "Yeah! All right--Robon Weapon I," the pink Robon shouted while drawing the weapon from her hip. "Pink Whip, go!" When cracking the pink metal cord, it whip tied up the mechanical spider's legs. "Yes!" Aracnor's spinnerets unlocked and began to spin a web that leaped out of its abdomen and entangled Amanda. The sticky strands of metal formed a net that trapped Amanda on her feet. "Ough!" she shouted while using her arm to protect herself. Abominor looked behind himself at the others. "I think it's finally got her." Aracnor unraveled the whip around its legs and rolled onto its feet again as the web became visibly electrified; the slayer droid was again drawing power from Amanda's Robon body. She resisted with moaning loudly but Amanda was not able to keep her life force from being sucked out of herself. "The more she resists, the higher her energy output is," Ivicon said. Amanda's head strained downward while pulling against the net. "Can't.. Let it--kill me..." the pink Robon told herself while pulling on the web; she managed to tear a hole in the net but it was not enough. Aracnor sucked the web inside of itself, pulling her closer to its fangs. Out of the sky, the silver Robon flipped over with his SilverStaff striking down in the process. Upon landing, a cloud of white smoke puffed out of sparks blasting from the jaws of Slayer Droid Aracnor. The net was cut by Brad's weapon as the force of the explosion blew Aracnor clear of the area. Amanda fell onto one knee and Brad came to the pink Robon to pull the remains of the web from her armor. "Amanda, are you okay?" She looked at the silver Robon and nodded. "Just a little weak." "You've got to conserve your energy, Amanda," Brad said. "You're not up to this!" Amanda stood up with Brad. "No! The plan worked; its weak spot is its legs." "It apparently didn't expect to see me," Brad said while looking at Aracnor get its bearings. "The ambush scheme worked." Hidden, ThunderBelt jerked in surprise. "Those sneaky Robon deceived us!!" "Don't forget, we are the back-up plan," Ivicon replied. "Let's go and give them a little taste of their own medicine." Abominor nodded. "Let's go." Slayer Droid Aracnor stood perfectly still for reasons that escaped both Brad and Amanda. "What is it doing?" Brad asked. "Good question," Amanda answered. "Uh oh, look!" In the sky, the red, black, white and green ComBots group-somersaulted through the air. Both the silver and pink Robon jerked back. "We are badly out numbered here," Brad said. "I wish Aaron could've made it." "Well," Amanda said, "no use it complaining about it now." Brad watched the five of them approach. "I've got an idea. I'll deal with the robot spider while you hold off the ComBots.' "Great plan, Brad," Amanda sarcastically said. He turned around and ran away. Stealthon stopped everyone and said, "Ho look, guys--it looks like the female Robon is going to take us on." "This should be good," ThunderBelt jested. Amanda pointed at them and shouted, "I've kicked your butt before, Abominor; and I can do it again!" "Off 'er," Abominor said. The ComBots all ran ahead followed by Abominor himself. Ooh, what have I gotten myself into, Amanda thought to herself. Stealthon swung his axe against the pink Robon who tumbled beneath the weapon and came up to smash down ThunderBelt's sword. After she punched ThunderBelt across the chest, sparks exploded from the blow whens he dropped low to perform a reverse low-spin kick tripping Ivicon. When the dark green robot fell over, Amanda stood up but then Abominor aggressively tossed his SonicDisc at her. When the disc crashed into her chest, the blast of sparks knocked her off her feet. Meanwhile--Brad held his arms high to keep Slayer Droid Aracnor's legs from knocking him down. The silver Robon dropped to the street and double-foot kicked Aracnor into the air. Like a football, Aracnor was sent flying backwards over the Metro Blue Line platform. Brad jumped into the air, twisting over through the sky and eventually landed on the mechanical spider's underside. The silver Robon's robot fist grabbed one of Aracnor's legs and, with his other fist, broke it with a solid punch. Sparks blew from the severed limb before Brad grabbed another of the robot spider's legs and broke it with another punch. Stealthon flipped out of the sky with his axe coming down on approach. Upon landing, the pink armor of Amanda's chest sparked when the blade of his weapon struck her back. She stumbled back from the white cloud of smoke. ThunderBelt picked up his sword and stepped in where Stealthon was. The white ComBot turned around and sliced the blade into the pink Robon's flank. The force of the sparks blasting turned Amanda around when ThunderBelt hammered down with his sword again causing the blade to spark off her chest. Abominor took his SonicDisc and tossed it dead ahead and when the saucer bounced off her metal chest, she was knocked into twisting by the sparks exploding. Holding his CrossBow, Ivicon shot multiple arrows from his specially designed weapons. Individual blasts of sparks bursting from different locations of her armor forced Amanda off her feet and onto the ground. Brad held his SilverStaff and cut off Slayer Droid Aracnor's fangs which fell to the ground and became smoking stains in the concrete. He jumped off Aracnor and kicked it back onto what was left of its legs and looked up. "Oh no, Amanda..." Smoking and barely moving, the pink Robon layed on her side as the silver Robon had ran towards her and knelt beside Amanda to help her up. "Amanda, say something." "Brad..." "You two are pathetic!" Abominor pointed at them and said. Standing with the ComBots with the sun in the sky above the dark red Robon put a hand over his chest "We have only just begun to demolish you inferior Chromion up-starts. Decimatron now!!" The center section of Stealthon and Ivicon's limbs had folded, converting the black and dark green robots into large robot legs that gained a bright red aura when struck by lightning. In the background existed a view of the coastal mountains when Toncur, the brown tank, rolled over the sand so fast, dust flew by its tracks. It rolled off a cliff and into the sky. In midair, the huge metal vehicle had extended at multiple locations throughout its body. The tank, guided by bright arcs of lightning, was lowered onto the robot legs forming a torso. In the sky, the red and white ComBots, Abominor and ThunderBelt had jumped into the air. In the sky, the two had rapidly ascended. While flying, they simultaneously transformed into robot arms that red arcs of light had brought into the sides of the torso. Sliding up from between the shoulders was the head of Decimatron. It was black and had a gray, metallic face with a red visor across its eyes. Both arms flexed out to the sides as the 80-foot robot warrior stepped forth. Amanda knelt beside Brad as they looked at it walk towards them. "Brad, we've got to retreat! We can't form RoboMan without David and on our own, we can't fight Decimatron!" "I've got another idea," Brad replied. "You just need to get inside Rocore and hold him off while I get into position. You've just _got_ to hold on." "Okay," the pink Robon replied. "If doesn't work, it's..." Brad interrupted her, "It will work--trust me." The silver Robon stood up and ran away. She stood up while watching him run back to the Metro Blue Line station and then up at Decimatron. "Here goes nothing." Amanda stepped forth and looked into the sky shouting, "I, pink Robon summon Rocore!" The clouds in the blue sky had parted as Rocore, the large black and red striped aircraft jet-propelled itself downward. "Here I go!" Amanda announced before leaping into the air. In the sky, the pink Robon had rapidly ascended and, inside of the dark cockpit, Amanda had sat in the center cockpit. "Full Throttle!" she said while pushing a lever. The black jet's nose pulled up, raising its altitude. Decimatron watched the airship bank around in the sky. "You cannot hide from me, Robon warrior!" Brad stood in front of the helpless Slayer Droid Aracnor. "This thing sucked up a lot of power. It's got to have at least a few megavolts in it and I bet I can rig it to go off." I just wonder how to get it to go off at the right time, he thought to himself. "Arm Bazookas!" Decimatron said while pointing its long, boxy arms. Two big, black cannons on them had produced brilliant rays of purple light. Rocore just barely dodged one shot and then another. Amanda looked back and forth on her console. "Counter fire!" she shouted as soon as she found the right button. The jet craft spit out tiny bits of blue light from out of holes in its wings that caused many sparks to go bounce off Decimatron's armor. However, there was little or no effect. Brad kicked Aracnor several times until there was a noticeable hum. "Not quite as scientific as David would've done it. Come on!" The silver Robon needed its power supply to become unstable. Decimatron's giant black fist caught Rocore and started squeezing. Inside of the cockpit, Amanda was rocked heavily as sparks kept exploding out of walls in the chamber. She screamed while trying to back away from every burst. "Brad, hurry!" Decimatron took the jet and hurled it out of sight. "Ahhh!!!" she yelled as Rocore spun out of control. The pink Robon grabbed the controls again and pulled on them. "I've got to stabilize it!" Meanwhile--sparks suddenly spewed out of Slayer Droid Aracnor's armor and Brad nodded with satisfaction. "Okay, it's starting." The silver Robon pressed a switch on the side of his metallic head and said, "Amanda, bring it down and fly low enough so that when Decimatron tries to grab you, it takes the robot spider instead." The pink Robon put her finger on the right side of her metallic head as well and nodded. "Right, I'm on my way. Amanda out," she said then putting both hands back on the controls. "I hope Brad knows what he's doing." Decimatron's hand swooped closer to Rocore as it flew by the towering robot; Brad looked at the black jet craft approach and then jumped into the air. In the sky, the jet flew by, picking up the silver Robon in the process. Inside of the cockpit, Brad appeared beside Amanda. "Amanda, Up!" Still flying low, Rocore had suddenly lifted skyward away from Slayer Droid Aracnor as Decimatron grabbed Aracnor instead of Rocore. Upon squeezing it, the slayer droid exploded within Decimatron's fist. Brad watched the explosion on the viewer, brightening the dark cockpit. Decimatron's enormous body was sent flying backwards through the sky, crashing into the train tracks on the Metro Blue Line. "YEAH!" Brad said. "Man, we did it, Amanda!!" Amanda nodded. "I don't believe it!" Rocore flew away from the battle damaged area as Abominor looked into the sky. "Next time, Robon. Next time..." The red compact car of Amanda's was parked on the curb in front of the brick-made story duplex in Torrance. Inside, David sat on the couch with his leg propped up on the coffee table. Out of the kitchen door came Amanda in a pair of jeans and a pink camisole holding a couple of cans of root beer. "Okay, here you go." "Aw, thanks a lot, Amanda--can't tell you how glad I am to have been able to avoid getting up again," David replied while taking his can of soda. "It doesn't hurt my leg so much as it does just the effort it takes to get on it." Amanda jumped onto the easy chair with her legs folded yoga-style. "So how is your knee anyway?" "Well the Doc says that I should be swimming again in two weeks but the cast can come off next Friday," David said as he opened his can of soda. "It's nothing really. What I want to know is whether or not you're okay." Amanda nodded eagerly and smiled. "Oh, I'm fine." "You sure?" David asked. "When Aaron told me about what happened to you, my mind started picturing all sorts of horrible things." Amanda laughs. "That's what I love about you--you've got one heck of an imagination." "Heh," David lightly chuckled. Amanda opened her can of soda pop. "Anyway, I'm fine. It was scary for a while there but thanks to Brad, we came out of it alive. Man, he's been a real life saver a lot here lately." "Yeah, I know," David replied after taking a sip from his can. "It's like he was born for this; although he is the only one on this team with a red belt in karate." Amanda nodded. "Yeah." "You can't blame me for being worried about you, though," David said, "but as long as you're okay, I'm okay too." Amanda smiled and nodded slowly. "The feeling's mutual, David."
